Setting up HotSpotzz on your computer is simple. In fact, on newer
PCs with Windows XP or Macintoshes with OSX, little or no configuration is required. Typically,
three things need to be checked on your computer: SSID, Security, and Channel. Then, open up a web
browser such as Internet Explorer and login with your username
with one of three endings attached: @HotSpotzz.com, @HotSpotzz, or
hotspotzz.com.

Step1: Check 3 Key Computer Settings:

IMPORTANT: After making changes, you may need to remove and reinsert your Wireless Card.
WinXP and Win2000 allow you make changes with no additional software. Mac OS X also requires no additional
software. Windows 95, 98, and ME, however, require the use of the configuration program that came with your wireless card.

Step 2: Log in to HotSpotzz
- Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, etc.
Windows 98 works best with Mozilla. Internet Explorer can be used
after logging in with Mozilla.
- The HOTSPOTTZ login page should appear.
If it does not, make sure you've followed the
setup instructions for you OS or Card.
After making changes, you may need to remove and reinsert
your Wireless Card, then try again.
- Type your username in the Username
Field. Here are some common login
formats:

Note: If you are logging on using a Scratch Card, the user name will be located on your card.
- Type in your password as you usually do.
Important: Passwords are CaSE sEnSItiVe. Ensure your Caps Lock is
disabled.
- Click the Login button
- Click the Continue button on the next screen that appears.
- A new window will pop up with a Logout button. Leave this window open and minimized until you've finished your session.
- At the end of your session, click the Logout button.

Windows XP:
Windows XP makes things easy with built-in wireless compatibility. Typically, no extra configuration is necessary.
Follow the steps below to double-check your settings.
Wireless Network Settings:
- Click Start, then Control Panel. In the
Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections. On the following screen, click
Network Connections.
- Right-click your Wireless connection icon and click on
Properties.
- Click on the Wireless Networks tab. Be sure that there is a checkmark on the option to
Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
- With HotSpotzz selected in the list of Available
networks, click on the Configure button. The Network name
(SSID) needs to be set to "HotSpotzz" and Wireless
network key (WEP) should be disabled.
- Click on the Authentication tab. All settings should be entirely
disabled.
Wireless Card Settings:
- Click OK to return to the main Properties Screen.
- Select the General tab and then click the Configure button.
- Click the Advanced tab. For the following three Properties, select the following Values:
- Encryption = Disabled
- Network Type = Infrastructure
- SSID = HotSpotzz
- Click OK and then OK again.

Windows 2000: Windows 2000 also works very well with wireless.
Wireless Card Settings:
- Click Start, then Settings, then Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Right-click your Wireless connection icon and click on
Properties.
- On the General tab, click the Configure button.
- Click the Advanced tab. For the following three Properties, select the following Values:
- Encryption = Disabled
- Network Type = Infrastructure
- SSID = HotSpotzz
- Click OK and then OK again.
- After making changes, you may need to remove and reinsert your Laptop's Wireless Card.

Windows 95/98/ME:
NOTE: Windows 95, 98, and ME with Internet Explorer do not support the
HotSpotzz login environment.
While we suggest always using the latest operating systems and browser technology, you can download Mozilla
Web Browser for free onto your Windows 95, 98, and ME operating systems.

Windows 95, 98, and ME do not have wireless compatibility built-in. You will need to use the
Configuration program that came with your wireless card to configure your computer.
Note: There are myriad wireless
cards available and multiple software versions for each card. We've provided
screenshots for the most common cards below; however, for the rest, you may
need to look around within the configuration program to find the 3 key
settings: SSID (or Network Name), Encryption (and Security), and Channel.
- Open the configuration program that came with your Wireless Card. You may find it in the System Tray (by the clock)
or in Start -> Programs.
- Set the SSID or Network Name to
HotSpotzz
- By default, the following settings are already correct on most cards:
- Security and/or Encryption are NOT enabled
- Channel is set to 1
- After making changes, you may need to remove and reinsert your Laptop's Wireless Card.
- The Linksys and D-Link cards are the most common. Click a link below for possible help.

Mac OSX:
Macintsoh makes things easy with built-in wireless compatibility. Follow the steps below to double-check your settings.
- Click Apple, then System
Preferences. Then click the Network icon.
- Next to Location, click the
down-arrow and select New Location. Name the New Location
"HotSpotzz Wireless" or something similar and click OK.
- Next to Show, click the down-arrow
and select Network Port Configurations. Leave the checkmark
in front AirPort. Remove all other checkmarks such as Internal Modem
or Ethernet.
- Next to Show, click the down-arrow
and select AirPort. There will be 4 blank tabs.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab.
- Next to Configure, click the down-arrow and select Using DHCP.
- In the DNS Servers, enter 209.210.176.8 and 209.10.176.9
- Leave the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Routeralone.
- Click on the AirPort tab.
- Choose Join a specific network and select
HotSpotzz from the drop-down menu.
- Checkmark the option to Show AirPort status in menu bar.
- Click OK.
- After making changes, you may need to
remove and reinsert your Laptop's Wireless Card.
