COFFEE GARDEN ANNOUNCES FREE WIRELESS INTERNET EVENT
Coffee Garden Gives Customers a Free Wi-Fi Sample on July 9th & 10th
Date: July 9, 2003
For Release: IMMEDIATE
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Coffee Garden, a trendy Salt Lake City-based coffee shop, is giving its customers a free taste of HOTSPOTZZ wireless Internet on July 9th and 10th. For two days, Coffee Garden's customers will be able to sip their coffee while surfing the net wirelessly for free.
HOTSPOTZZ is holding the free wireless event in order to educate consumers on Wi-Fi technology. Coffee Garden customers can access the HOTSPOTZZ network using complimentary HOTSTPOTZZ Internet "scratch cards" containing unique usernames and passwords. HOTSPOTZZ representatives will be on hand during peak times to answer questions and help customers access the HOTSPOTZZ network.
Earlier this year, Coffee Garden partnered with HOTSPOTZZ, one of the nation's largest providers of wireless "hot spots" based in Salt Lake City, to offer high-speed wireless access to its net thirsty customers. HOTSPOTZZ utilizes 802.11b technology backed by high-speed broadband Internet access to connect customers to the Internet. Customers use Wi-Fi-enabled laptops and other mobile devices to connect to the Internet anywhere within the coverage area of the access point.
"The purpose of the free Wi-Fi event is to educate customers on Wi-Fi technology and help them connect wirelessly," said Henry Smith, HOTSPOTZZ CEO.
The fee for using Coffee Garden's HOTSPOTZZ varies between different plans: from approximately $2.95 for a one-hour scratch card to a pay-as-you-go service to $14.95 per month for unlimited wireless Internet plus dial-up. Coffee Garden is offering up to $25 in free coffee drinks for anyone that signs up for the HOTSPOTZZ Mobile Internet Value Pack ($14.95/month for unlimited Wi-Fi plus dial-up) by July 31st.
The Wi-Fi market is rapidly expanding and becoming mainstream. According to Gartner, consumers and businesses are expected to spend $1.7 billion on Wi-Fi equipment. By 2006, there are expected to be 89,000 public Wi-Fi network access points and more than 99 million Wi-Fi users worldwide, Gartner says.
